The contribution that volunteers make to the work of Scarborough & Ryedale Mind is central to its service and philosophy.

We have a number of volunteering options available to those interested in joining us:

Fundraising - Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind relies on fundraising to continue its work. We are always keen to recruit volunteers who are able to organise and run small scale and local fundraising events like raffles, car-boot sales, fashion shows etc.

Befriending - this service is looking for committed volunteers to work alongside a person with mental health difficulties to help them in a variety of ways. This work can be very rewarding and users of our service can benefit enormously from your relationship with them.

Outreach work - Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind uses ordinary community venues to enable easy public access and we are keen to recruit volunteers who could provide information and support to members of the public.

Health promotion work - Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind is committed to educating the public about the importance of maintaining their mental health. Our work includes training in schools, colleges and the workplace. If you have an interest in this work please contact us.

Volunteering with Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind is supported - we recognise that volunteers will sometimes need support and advice. We provide this through informal and open contact with our regular staff in addition to our regular meetings which all volunteers are invited to attend. We also plan several larger social gatherings for volunteers and service users throughout the year. We also have a 'network' of volunteers who have agreed to be available to one another for informal support. In addition, we provide training to volunteers in order that they can be clear about their role from the very start.

Whether you are employed, unemployed, retired, having difficulty finding or holding down a job, a student.... in fact whatever or whoever you are, volunteering offers a great opportunity to BE INVOLVED.

So - why not join us...
